The Month of March is upon us!

It is exciting times for Bluebonnet Knitting Guild, March is here! 

Number 1 on the agenda, our next meeting is Thursday, March 14 at McAlister's Deli, Kimball Avenue, Southlake.  Alissa Barton, better known as the Knitting Fairy, is going to do a program on how to design and make hats from the top down in a variety of sizes.

Number 2 on the agenda, we are now approximately 2 weeks away from our 2013 Knitapalooza.  Remember that reservations need to be submitted by March 15.  We have a fun day planned and have some great prizes for everyone!  Hope to see everyone on the 23rd.

Number 3 on the agenda and this is the final thing, our workshop is on Saturday, May 11 at Quilter's Dream, Hwy 26, Colleyville, TX.  It will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Plan to bring a sack lunch and the guild will supply desserts, tea and water.  Alissa Barton is going to do a program on how to design and knit that favorite sweater in your closet.  She will have details on the 14th.  You will need to register to attend, because unfortunately we can only have twenty people.  We are starting with active members and then reaching out to community from there.  I will do a poll in April on our Yahoo Groups to determine the number of interested members.  The cost will be $10.

January / February Meetings

WOW, what a GREAT meeting we had in January.  We had a very good turn out, 24 members, a great program, by Melanie Gibbons, and some light.  Melanie did a very interesting program on designing socks and my needles and I are waiting for some good yarn to get started.

We announced the winners of the Master Knitter Scholarship:  Sherry Smith, Patti Stapleton and Edee B.

We are going to have our February meeting on the 14th.  I realize this is Valentine's Day and some members will be attending a retreat, so we are going to have a laid back fun knitting night.  We are not going to have a program so bring your favorite project and we'll spend time knitting and getting to know each other better.

Make sure you register for the 2013 Knitapalooza and plan for a fun day!

Happy Holidays and New Location

Our Christmas party was a huge success, dinner was wonderful, lots of giggles and some great Christmas Gifts. 

Let's start our new year out right with a new location.  We will be meeting at:

Our meeting will be January 10 at 6:30 p.m and the meeting at 7:00 p.m.  We will be drawing names for the Master Knitter program that night.

On another happy note, a ton of door prizes are arriving at the Butler Household for our 2013 Knitapalooza.  I am very excited and look forward to a great event this year.

Master Hand Knitter Scholarships

Scholarship for Master Knitting Program through Knitting Guild Association

The Bluebonnet Handknitter’s Guild is going to award three (3) scholarships for the Masters Hand Knitter Program through The Knitting Guild Association.  The three lucky winners will be chosen by a raffle in January and must be present to win.

Winners will receive:

·         Level 1 of the Masters Hand Knitter Program in Hand Knitting through Knitting Guild Association

·         Dues to The Knitting Guild Association for one year

Requirements:

·         Must be a member in good standing of the Bluebonnet Guild of North Texas  (A member in good standing has $25 annual dues for 2012-2013 paid by November, 2012)

·         There is no time limit for completion, but recipient must be a member in good standing till completion of Level 1 of the course

·         Member must be in attendance at the January meeting when the recipients are selected

Interested members need to submit their names by email to dbutler@vha.com by January 2, 2013.  If more than three (3) people are interested in pursuing this endeavor, a raffle drawing will be held at the January 10, 2013.

Christmas/Holiday Party

Wow, I can’t believe we are in November and getting ready for our Christmas party. We had a GREAT meeting on Thursday night and have some exciting things coming in the New Year.


Our Christmas/Holiday Party had to be moved to a new venue. MiMi’s café was booked for the 13th of December, so we decided on Macaroni Grill. The best part of choosing the Macaroni Grill is that they have ½ price on their wine on Thursday evenings! YIPPEE!

Remember we have a Sneaky Santa game that evening and if you would like to be included bring a $10 minimum, knitting related gift, i.e., yarn, pattern book, tool, etc.

Also we are going to have an additional raffle. The special raffle is for anyone who brings a gift for LaDora Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. LaDora would like scarves, hats, slippers, lap robes, shawls, and mittens. There are patterns for some items on the Yahoo site under files. Of course, you can use a pattern of your choice for any of these items.  Let's get those needles flying and watch for a GREAT prize in the raffle.

October Guild Meeting - The Year of Design continues

Good morning everyone!  It is Sunday and I am looking forward to a good football game and some great knitting this afternoon. 


Our year of design continues on Thursday, with an interactive program on how to design special Christmas gifts! Please bring your ideas for special gifts you have designed or made for Holiday giving or decorating.  Don't forget to include the fabulous websites where you can find great ideas and patterns.

If you have never designed before, our meeting will include how to use gauge and stitch dictionaries to create your own fabulous designs.
